Where We Do Not Compete
BOZE Metal is a sourcing and processing partner for titanium woven mesh, not a primary melter. The following scope clarifications are necessary for accurate technical and commercial alignment on electrochemical, filtration, and cathodic-protection mesh orders.
๐
No primary melting
Sponge, VAR and EBM melting, wire-bar drawing, and wire production is not in our vertically integrated scope. We source wire and mesh-blank from upstream mills; our scope is weaving, surface conditioning, slitting, and quality verification.
โ ๏ธ
No blanket aerospace-grade
Material specifications are applied "where applicable" per order. AS9100D governs our QMS, not every shipment classification. Confirm criticality class, specification (ASTM E2016, ISO 9044), and required documentation per RFQ.
๐ฅ
No blanket medical claim
We supply mesh to medical material specifications (ASTM F67, F136) where applicable. We are a material supplier and processor, not a finished medical device manufacturer; downstream device-level certification remains the device maker responsibility.
โฑ๏ธ
No 24-hour quote promise
Engineering review and quotation timelines are confirmed at the RFQ stage based on the order complexity, alloy, mesh count, weave pattern, and downstream processing required. Standard stocked items typically receive a same-week response.
๐
Mesh-count and aperture scope
Standard stocked mesh counts are 4 through 325. Mesh counts above 325 (aperture below 45 micrometer) require specialized tooling and dedicated weaving campaigns; confirm feasibility and lead time at the RFQ stage.

Production Workflow
Woven Mesh Production Workflow
From incoming wire stock verification through weaving, surface cleaning, NDT, slitting, and EN 10204 3.1 MTR issuance - six controlled stages with documentation checkpoints at each handoff.
01
Incoming wire stock verification
Grade-certified titanium wire (matching the mesh wire diameter) is received with upstream-mill heat-lot, chemistry, and surface-state records. Lot is verified against ASTM E2016 and ISO 9044 before the weaving line starts.
02
Wire preparation and warp setup
Wire is straightened, stress-relieved, and lubricated for weaving. Warp wires are loaded onto a loom beam under controlled tension; shute wires are loaded into shuttles or rapier heads per the mesh count specification.
03
Weaving (plain / twill / dutch)
The loom weaves wire per the customer-specified pattern and mesh count. Plain weave is the workhorse for general filtration; twill weave for finer mesh counts above 200; dutch weave (plain or twill) for high-pressure filtration where mechanical strength is critical.
04
Surface cleaning and pickling
As-woven mesh is ultrasonic-cleaned to remove loom lubricant, then acid-pickled to remove the oxide scale from the heat-affected weaving zone. Bright anneal is available for the cleanest surface state.
05
NDT and dimensional inspection
100 percent visual inspection of every roll. Aperture and wire diameter are sampled per ASTM E2016 (10 measurements per square foot). Mesh count is verified with calibrated reticle; tensile test on the wire per ASTM E8.
06
Slitting, rolling, packaging, MTR
Mesh is slit to customer-specified roll width, level-wound on cores, vacuum-sealed for medical / AM grades, and shipped with an EN 10204 3.1 MTR (chemistry, mechanical data, mesh count and aperture report) traceable to the originating heat.
Operating Boundaries
Operating Boundaries and Failure Modes
Three service-environment boundaries that drive alloy selection, surface finish, and weave-pattern class. Confirm these constraints at the RFQ stage.
๐
Aperture tolerance vs. mesh count
Fine-mesh counts above 200 (opening below 75 micrometer) require laser-monitored looms and tighter aperture tolerance. Standard mill tolerance is plus or minus 10 percent; tight-tolerance mesh (plus or minus 5 percent) is available with a tooling surcharge. Confirm the tolerance class at the RFQ stage.
๐ก๏ธ
Surface contamination in electrochemical and biomedical use
Bright annealed and pickled surface is required for chlor-alkali membrane, PEM, and biomedical service. As-woven mesh carries residual lubricant and oxide scale that must be removed before installation; specify surface conditioning at the RFQ stage.
๐งฎ
Weave pattern and pressure-drop selection
Plain weave is the workhorse for low-pressure filtration. Twill weave supports higher flow and finer mesh count. Dutch weave (plain or twill) supports high-pressure filtration with finer absolute retention. Confirm the service pressure, flow rate, and absolute retention target before weave selection.

Engineering and Procurement FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Six common buyer questions on grade and weave selection, mesh-count tolerance, surface finish, cut-to-size formats, attachment methods, and shipment documentation.
Q1How do you select the right titanium mesh grade and weave for a given service?
Match the alloy to the medium. CP Gr1 and Gr2 are the workhorses for general filtration and electrochemical service. Gr7 (Ti-Pd) is required for reducing acids (HCl, dilute H2SO4) and is the default for chlor-alkali membrane cells. Gr12 is selected for hot brine and seawater. For the weave: plain weave for low-pressure general filtration, twill weave for fine mesh above 200 count, dutch weave (plain or twill) for high-pressure filtration where mechanical strength and absolute retention are critical.
Q2How is mesh-count and aperture tolerance controlled?
Looms are calibrated with laser-monitored warp and shute position feedback. Aperture is measured with a calibrated reticle and a digital microscope on 10 locations per square foot per ASTM E2016. Standard mill tolerance is plus or minus 10 percent of nominal opening; tight-tolerance mesh is plus or minus 5 percent and is available with a tooling surcharge and dedicated weaving campaign.
Q3What surface finish is required for chlor-alkali and PEM electrolyzer service?
Bright annealed and pickled surface is the standard for chlor-alkali membrane and PEM service. As-woven mesh carries residual lubricant and oxide scale that must be removed before installation. For coated anode applications (MMO / DSA), the mesh is also surface-conditioned to a controlled roughness to optimize catalytic coating adhesion.
Q4Can titanium mesh be supplied cut-to-size as disc or panel?
Yes. Mesh is supplied level-wound on rolls, traverse-wound on spools, or cut-to-size as discs, panels, or stamped blanks. Laser-cut blank shapes are also available where the order requires a specific geometry; tolerance and edge-quality are confirmed at the RFQ stage.
Q5How is titanium mesh typically attached to a frame or header?
Standard attachment methods include mechanical crimping into a frame groove, resistance or TIG welding to a titanium header, and sinter-bonding for filter elements. For chlor-alkali membrane cells, the mesh is typically resistance-welded to a current-distributor plate. Attachment method and material compatibility are confirmed at the RFQ stage.
Q6What documentation is supplied with each mesh shipment?
EN 10204 3.1 mill test report (chemistry, mechanical data, mesh count and aperture report), surface-finish declaration, and dimensional report per roll. Independent third-party witness tests by Lloyds, Bureau Veritas, DNV, or customer-appointed agencies are welcomed and arranged at the RFQ stage.
