Surface Finish Selection Guide

Functional Surfaces (Ra 0.05-0.2 µm): Critical sealing faces, bearing journals, and medical implant surfaces. Achieved by fine grinding, superfinishing, or precision turning.
Standard Machined (Ra 0.4-0.8 µm): General engineering surfaces, aerospace structural parts, and hydraulic components. Standard CNC milling and turning output.
Non-Critical (Ra 1.6-3.2 µm): Internal cavities, weld prep surfaces, and concealed structural elements. Rough machining or as-forged surfaces.
Measurement: We verify surface finish using Mitutoyo SJ-410 profilometers. Full surface roughness reports available per ASTM B46.1.
